viii, 323p., lxiii (appendix), p. (index), ten plates, including one folding. A very good copy; almost each plate has some foxing and there is some offsetting on almost all pages which face a plate. It is bound in buckram, but neither the title or the author appear on the outside of the binding. It is a remarkably clean copy, with all edges gilt. "Starting in 1802 and continuing for ten years, Sir Humphry Davy delivered a course of lectures on the elements of agricultural chemistry before the Board of Agriculture. These lectures were published in book form in 1813 for the copyright of which Davy received one thousand guineas, with fifty guineas for each edition. This work remained the most important treatise on agricultural; science for nearly half a century until the subject was again taken up by Liebig." (Note from former owner).
