Cloth. First Edition. 12mo - over 6¾" - 7¾" tall. 120p. A poor copy. The hinges are worn so that the covers are attached, but loose; there is a water stain at the tops of most pages; pp. 27-28 has a rather large tear, but one can read the text while pp. 49-50 has some tape repaired tears, again the text is readable; pages 47-50 are barely attached to the binding. The cover title of this book reads: Wit and Humor of "Jake the Barber". The compiler of this book is the Secretary of the Tuscan Club. There is a photographic illustration of "Jake the Barber" as the frontispiece of the book so that we must assume he existed. There are beer ads in and near the end of the text of companies lone gone: The Home Brewing Co., Union Brewing Company, Feigenspan, Orange Brewery, and Hensler's Ales and Beer. There are cartoon-like drawings throughout, mostly of Jake involved in a variety of activities. Jake speaks in dialect as do some others in his stories.
